A few miles up from the southern coast of Iceland, a road winds through a green valley of angled plots and gently rolling hills. This part of Iceland is filled with quaint, lush farming valleys and sandy, rolling coastline. Iceland's coastline is magnificent and varied, ranging from deep, long fjords in the northwest, to dark sandy beaches in the south. The middle of this geologically and volcanically active island contains a massive plateau covered in ice and sand fields, glaciers, and mountains that are unique to Iceland. Alternatively, the coastline is swept with dramatic plateaus, volcanoes, fjords, and green hills dotted with lichens, mosses, and heather.
