I WANT US TO GO WEST

Biggs Rufus Highway

I had come to the conclusion after a couple of days that an early November drive through Eastern Oregon was going to be a fairly unproductive experience. Too much weather. I felt as if I was going to be blown off the road. I turned around and started to drive back to Seattle. It was snowing on the Washington side and I was almost out of gas. What a romantic day, but I worried that my tripod would be blown over if I tried to shoot. Sometimes it’s just a matter of taking one photograph to get things rolling and then something in my brain kicks in and I simply can’t stop. It was windy and I didn’t think I could get this photograph but here it is. Once again, I fell in love with the Columbia and decided to go back inland to try to get some photographs. It was an amazing couple of days and I will never forget the moody, gorgeous texture of those days back in the rolling hills and prairies in Oregon. Truly one of the happiest shoots of my life, enveloped by textures, silence, solitude, the company of wildlife and true gratitude that this was my life, my appointed destiny, at least for now to be out taking photographs in
